Whatever Happened To "Don't Be Evil"?

For those of you who don't know, the unofficial motto of Google is "Don't Be Evil". Now don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Google fan. I have yet to come across a Google service or product I don't like, and I've been following the company since I was in middle school. For those of you who don't know me, that's a long time, especially in computer terms.
Imagine my dismay then, when recently a friend had this as their gchat status message:

"Type "Christianity is" into Google's mainpage search bar. Note the suggested results. Next type "Hinduism is" into the search bar and note the results. Finally type "Islam is" into the search bar and note what happens..." (The ellipsis was followed by a statement I don't really want to be responsible for publishing.)

For those of you who haven't tried this, here are my results:
christianity is
judaism is
hinduism is
islam is

Media Monkey Trial

image
Ok, so after a little bit of research the first program I’ve decided to try out is Media Monkey. CNET had some positive things to say in addition to a bunch of other reviews I read online. I only wish I knew someone who has tried it personally. I tend to weigh those kinds of reviews heavily.

So far I have downloaded and installed it. It read in all of my media quite painlessly, and I haven’t had any issues with file duplicates. I’m really excited about it, especially since it can sync mp3 players like ipods and stuff. If it works out I might even consider ponying up the $20 for the full version.

I Hate iTunes

i've never liked itunes, so i was really surprised when recently a good friend of mine told me he really likes the way itunes organizes his music and syncs with his ipod. that was about a month ago. since then i've tried at least four times to get itunes to functionally import or organize my music to no avail. every time i import music and let it copy a file to its library, it reads everything in duplicate. then when i tried to delete all the duplicates, itunes deleted all copies of any files that had duplicates. working with this program has been one of the worst experiences of my life. i need to start investigating some itunes alternatives...

Where has all the music gone?

What I want to know is what happened to these bands? Am I the only one who misses 90s alt rock? I remember a time when I could turn on a radio and find music i really liked here in Richmond. Now I have to flip between 6 or so stations constantly. I mean, I don't have to, but I do.

Anyhow, one of my new year's resolutions is to write more, so I need get back into making my writing playlists. Although I've found the music I listen to while writing impacts what I write about through the impact it has on my mood. Also, I need to reinstall the OS on my desktop so that it works again.

Earlier today I found this video of Better Than Ezra performing "Good" on the David Letterman Show. Enjoy!
